Favourite fanfics that I recommend to everyone.
I'll admit right now that I'm not a dedicated reader of fanfics. I don't like to read into the genre too much in case it inadvertently influences what I write myself. I'm sure plenty of you have read more than I. Nevertheless there are a few fics that I've simply come to adore. Here's a list of those stories that have inspired or influenced me; or that I simply plain love. Make sure you leave these writers their due credit, they deserve it!

• An' Everythin' Nice by Letanica - My favourite one-shot ficlet. It picks on events just before X-Treme X-Men #30 - Remy's going to join Storm at the convention in Texas and Rogue gets clingy. Nothing fancy or dramatic, just real life, some sexy moments, and some amazing dialogue. Letanica's also currently writing a full-length story, Happenstance - make sure you check it out too!
• Bad Touch by Katjen - One of the most amazing fics ever written - I just can't gush about it enough. An AU where Rogue ends up being manipulated into the Brotherhood while being inexplicably drawn to an enigmatic Cajun. But that synopsis just doesn't do it justice. It's so much more complicated. Amazingly heart-rending and emotive writing, with some of the most believable and compelling characterizations of Rogue and Gambit ever written. Am I making myself clear enough? READ IT NOW!
• Cheating at Solitaire by Katjen - [Incomplete] - Sequel to 'Bad Touch', and just as good as the first - except it's from Gambit's POV.
• End of History by Chaoscat - [Incomplete] - Set in the Evo universe, this fic picks up on a much more mature team after Apocalypse has gained control of the world and taken Rogue as one of his Horsemen. Only four chapters in so far, but trust me, epic greatness beckons... ;)
• Free for a Second by Vicki Lew - [Incomplete] - This is one sexy AU, and is already pretty much all over the net, but I feel I must add my piece. The premise is simple - a Cajun thief accidentally on purpose comes across a rogue assassin and ends up saving her chops. But as usual it turns out to be a whole lote more complicated, and watch out for the twist in chapter 15! Spicy, sexy, and everything in between. Ludi wants this finished!
• Heaven Leaves Shadows by Patchverse-SheCat - [Incomplete] - A much more introspective fic - it's Winter and Rogue, Gambit, Jean, Cyclops, Iceman, Polaris, Nightcrawler and Beast are stuck in the mansion. Tensions are high and tempers will out. Can their relationships survive the onslaught? Great writing from an amazingly talented young author.
• Love of My Life by Seven Sunningdale - Who honestly hasn't read this? Okay, I'll be honest - I haven't had the time or courage yet to read this humongous story the whole way through, but from what I have read, it's a pretty damn amazing fic. Super characterizations, a complex plot, and some breathtakingly romantic scenes. Not to mention it makes awesome use of both Rogue and her powers. An epic. It's as simple as that.
• Rememory by NemesisBecoming - [Incomplete] - I'll say here and now that I'm not a fan of Ro/Lo fics, but this is an exception. Beautifully written with a detailed, poetic elegance, this is flow-of-consciousness writing at its best. Logan relives a past haunted by the memory of a very special woman...
• Seether by Randirogue - [Incomplete] - An amazingly complicated piece of fiction that perfectly mixes the romantic with the dark. This is another epic that delves deep into the history of Rogue and uses both her powers and personality effectively. It makes use of practically every major X-character and is coupled with some beautiful character development. I wish this was canon. In fact, it should be canon!
• Tumultuous by angyxoxo - Intense and passionate, this gets right to the core of the characters of Rogue and Gambit, their relationship, who they are and why they do what they do to each other. It's an impassioned battle of wits, emotion, anger and sex that'll leave you reeling. Awesome stuff.
